The hair reduction method can effectively reduce hair growth by 80-90%. For some people, this is an excellent long-term solution, but others may find it vital to follow the route of electrolysis. However, the laser is highly efficient for treating large areas of unpleasant hair growth.

Cautions:

• IPL treatment is unsuitable for white, blonde, or red hair and works best on darker hair.
• IPL Laser Hair Removal works by directing controlled pulses of light into the skin, penetrating the epidermis and absorbing the melanin (pigment) in the hair shaft. This energy travels with heat, which will cut off the blood supply to the follicle structures and destroy the hair growth follicles. Over time, this process will reduce unwanted hair growth.
• The process is quick, and whilst it can be uncomfortable, it is not supposed to be excessively severe. Sometimes people experience a slight stinging and heat sensation.

How The IPL/Laser Hair Removal Treatment Works.

Initial Consultation:

• Before starting treatment, we require that all new patients have an initial consultation and patch test.
• During this appointment, we will examine the area you wish to treat to ensure that laser treatment is the best procedure for you.
• From this analysis, we can put together a bespoke treatment plan. If your hair colour is not suitable for laser, you may be a better suit for electrolysis.
• Please note, we only treat small areas with electrolysis, such as the face, chin, neck, and upper lip areas.
• Twenty-four hours before arriving for your IPL laser hair removal appointment, please shave the treatment area.
• Do not shave on the same day as the treatment will be refused.

Before/During Treatment:

• For 30 days before treatment, please make sure to avoid sunbeds, fake tan, depilatory creams or any harsh products.
• Do not wax, thread, pluck the hair or have electrolysis around the proposed treatment area.
• During the treatment, we shall be talking you through the process of laser hair removal. This treatment is painless, as we will focus on hair removal. However, some clients experience a stinging or snapping sensation on the skin.

After IPL Hair Removal:

After your IPL Hair Removal treatment is complete, you must follow the aftercare advice provided by the practitioner. It is common to experience temporary redness and swell for up to 48 hours; however, this is expected for short periods.

After the treatment, you may leave with visible hair growth. However, the hairs will start to fall out about 1-2 weeks after your session. To encourage the hair to shed, you can shave a week or two weeks after exfoliating the treatment area, but you must wait at least one week after treatment before doing so.

• Apply aloe vera or witch hazel regularly to the treatment area; use neat cotton wool, not your fingers. Protecting your aloe vera in the fridge will provide a cooling effect and soothe the treated area.
For 24-48 hours after IPL Hair Removal Treatment:
* Use a hydrating moisturiser and SPF (Sun Protection Factor).

• Do not take hot showers or baths; avoid exercise.
• Do not apply makeup, soap or scented products to the treated area.
• It is essential that you do not scratch, pick or touch the skin.

• For 30 days post-treatment, we advise that you avoid UV exposure and always wear SPF.
• There must be a minimum of 30 days between each IPL Hair Removal session. Initially, sessions will be around every four weeks. As hair regrowth slows, these sessions will be further apart, progressing to every 6weeks apart.
